YMCA Hosts Free Cardiac Screening Event Following Local Student’s Cardiac Arrest

January 23, 2025

A recent Republican-American article highlighted the harrowing experience of a Holy Cross High School student who suffered cardiac arrest and has since returned to class. This story is a powerful reminder of how undiagnosed heart conditions can impact young people—and why early detection is critical.

In response, the Greater Waterbury YMCA is partnering with In a Heartbeat and the Lott family to offer FREE ECG screenings through “A Lott at Heart - The Tylon Lott Cardiac Screening Program.”

🗓 Tuesday, February 27
4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Why Get Screened?

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in young people.
✅ An ECG (Electrocardiogram) can detect heart conditions that might otherwise go unnoticed.
✅ It’s quick, non-invasive, and could save a life.

This event is open to children, teens, and young adults and requires pre-registration. The YMCA, In a Heartbeat, and the Lott family are committed to making heart screenings more accessible, ensuring that no family has to face a cardiac emergency without warning.

📢 Register now to take a proactive step for your child’s health!
