Volunteer at the Waterbury YMCA

The YMCA can always use more helping hands. At the Y, you can coach a sports team, help teach a child to read or raise funds through our Community Support Campaign to ensure the Y is accessible to everyone in our community. Don't you want to help us make a positive difference in your neighborhood?

Sports Coaches

Use your talents to encourage, guide, and train young athletes at the Y. We rely on volunteer coaches to lead our year-round sports programs and leagues. Programs include a wide variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, tee-ball, and volleyball. Contact the Y near you to see how you can get in the game.

Tutorial Programs

Through creative activities and guided homework sessions, help a child develop the skills they need to succeed in school and life. You can provide one-on-one mentoring or tutor a small group of students through our Hoops and Homework and Afterschool programs.

Special Events

The Greater Waterbury YMCA is always on the go. Check our Events calendar for volunteer opportunities for kids' triathlons, races, community collaborations, and golf tournaments throughout the year.

Community Support Campaign Volunteer

Our annual support campaign is a community-wide effort to raise funds for children, teens, families, and adults who need the Y. We are always looking for dedicated fundraisers with innovative ideas to help out the cause.  Join our Community Support Campaign team today.

How to apply to be a Volunteer?

The Greater Waterbury Y is always looking for volunteers! To volunteer, we ask for you to fill out the Volunteer Application and then email the application to Tami Macary! You can also print the application and bring it in person, and one of our Welcome Center staff will give the application to Tami!
