Child Watch Policies and information

Child Watch is for the Greater Waterbury YMCA full-facility members only. Parents must remain in the building at all times. It is recommended that new children have some transition time with a parent in Child Watch before the parent leaves for the first time. Please pick up a copy of our code of conduct on your first visit! If your child has any special needs, please discuss with the staff so we can better serve the needs of your family.

  • Child Watch is available to full Greater Waterbury YMCA Facility members only.  Program members, guest members, or Unlimited Fitness members may not use ChildWatch.
  • Members may not use Child Watch for children who are not under their legal guardianship.
  • Parents are the only people allowed to check children into ChildWatch. Child Watch is not open to members caring for someone else's children.
  • The same parent must sign each child in and out daily.
  • Child Watch has a 1.5-hour time limit. If you would like extra time to shower or finish a workout, you must check in with staff after 90 minutes and request additional time.
  • If there is a waitlist and your child has been checked in for 1.5 hours, you will be asked to pick your child up immediately.
  • Children who are visibly ill will not be allowed in Child Watch.
  • Food or snacks are not allowed in Child Watch. Caregivers can provide water.
  • Child Watch staff are not allowed to diaper children. Please make sure children are checked in wearing a clean diaper. There is a diaper changing station and child bathroom for parental convenience located near the Child Watch room.
  • There are no nap areas/beds in Child Watch. Your child may get tired. Please leave a reclining stroller for them to nap in. If a reclining stroller is not provided, the parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up the sleeping child.
