Get Your Child Ready to Start School

The YMCA School Readiness program provides open access for children to quality programs that promote the health and safety of children and prepare them for formal schooling. The Y is a name you can trust for childcare, with a NAEYC-accredited, state-licensed program that provides a safe and healthy environment for your child. The full-day program is offered Monday through Friday from 6:30 am-5:30 pm for children 3-5 years of age.

Program Details

The YMCA School Readiness program uses an emerging curriculum aligned with the Connecticut Early Learning Development Standards (CT ELDS). This framework aligns with the Common Core standards used in Public Schools. Our program provides opportunities to strengthen the family though encouragement of parental involvement in a child's development and education; and enhancement of a family's abilities to meet the special needs of the children, including children with disabilities. In addition to curriculum based learning, children will also have access to the following experiences:

  • Creative activities including science experiments, painting and dramatic play
  • Swim lessons and Yoga Classes
  • Gym and playground time
  • Monthly field trips and family events
  • A nutritional breakfast, lunch and daily snack

Parents are also offered support and resources while their child is enrolled in the school readiness program, and will have peace of mind knowing that their child is being watched by a quality, educated staff through the largest provider of childcare in the US.
