| Summer Starts With the Teensπ |
| Every summer needs a proper Kick-off, rain or shine, and the teens delivered. The Teen Summer Kickoff Cookout had the food, the music, giveaways, and the awards ceremony nobody asked for, but everybody needed. |
| Shoutout to every winner, especially the staff who got Silent But Watching and somehow still accepted graciously. We see you. |
| Here's to the best summer ever |

| Phones Down, Eyes Up...and Dive In π |
| June's "Phones Down, Eyes Up" initiative was a reminder that water safety starts with full attention; no distractions, eyes on your kids at all times near pools, lakes, and beaches. |
| And we're putting our money where our mouth is: nearly 200 young swimmers will receive free swim lessons this summer alone. From floating on your back to treading water to basic strokes, these skills build real confidence in and around the water. |
| Session B lessons, for all ages, kicks off July 20 and registration is open now. Stop by the front desk or hit the button below. The water's warm. π |

| From POWER Graduates to Business Owners |
| On June 5, the Greater Waterbury YMCA and Waterbury Youth Services celebrated the grand opening of two new childcare businesses — Wonder's Oasis Family Daycare and Libélula Family Daycare — with a ribbon-cutting ceremony filled with family, community members, and local leaders. |
| Behind the bows? Rosa and Maria, 2025 graduates of POWER — a 26-week Spanish-language program that equips participants with the training, licensing, and support to launch their own home daycare programs. This is more than a grand opening. It's an investment in local entrepreneurs, working families, and greater access to quality childcare in Waterbury. |
| A huge thank you to our community partners, funders, and elected officials who helped make this vision a reality. Here's to new beginnings. |

| Are You a YCON? β¨ |
| YCONs are the pulse of our Y — members, volunteers, staff, and community partners who truly live the mission. |
And our latest YCON? She's no stranger to the social media spotlight and looking great while working out!
| Meet Carolyn Collazo, our Group Fitness instructor, Cardio Dance queen, and proof that sweating has never looked this good. Catch her every Thursday and see for yourself. |
| Carolyn, what does community mean to you? |
| Community means a judgment-free zone where people of all the colors of the rainbow can connect and exist together in harmony. The YMCAs are my home base — I felt like I could be myself with no judgment and exist as a group fitness instructor to mainly showcase that I want to bring people together to just dance and have fun. |
| The reason Carolyn keeps coming back to the Y is that the Y is FAMILY! |

| Move & Flex with PRIDE π³οΈπ |
| Carolyn and Bob did NOT come to play. Group Fitness classes turned into a full-on Pride celebration in June — think Pride-inspired playlists, bright colors, and energy that simply could not be contained. Shoutout to Carolyn (Cardio Dance) and Bob (Cardio Muscle Mix) for bringing the vibes, and to every student who showed up and showed out. π |

| Squat. Bench. Deadlift. Dominate. ποΈ |
| The 1000 Pound Club is a 12-week strength program built around the squat, bench press, and deadlift — but don't let the name scare you. Not ready for 1,000 lbs? The Path to 500 tier lets you set your own goal and own your progress. |
| For just $5/quarter, you get a full training workbook with workout structure, progress tracking, goal-setting, and nutrition guidance. The session wraps with our Lift-Off event, a high-energy celebration where members test their strength and show out. |

| Register by July 10 to join the current session, or catch the next one in October. πͺ |

| Growing Together |
| She Shows Up — Every Single Day π |
| Nicole is a true team player and champion for our program. She consistently goes above and beyond for the children, families, and fellow teachers she serves — bringing creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm to everything she does. It's been wonderful to watch her grow professionally over the years, and her reliability means we always know we can count on her. She works hard to create meaningful learning experiences, and yes — she fully embraces every spirit day and dress-up event. Congratulations, Nicole — our June Teacher of the Month! |

| Someone I Love Day π |
| This year’s “Someone I Love” Day was an incredible day celebrating the special people in our lives. It was filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful moments as our students welcomed their "Someone I Love" guests to join in the fun. From exciting carnival games and cozy indoor picnics to relaxing yoga sessions and creative craft activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Most importantly, the day was filled with love, connection, and memories that will last long after today. |
