Member News- March 2021
March 18, 2021
As of March 19, 2021, Governor Lamont will be allowing fitness centers to return to 100% capacity. But what does that mean for the YMCA and you?
Not Changing at the Y
The YMCA will continue to take temperature checks upon arrival. Guest and Nationwide Members will not be allowed to use the facility. Scanning your membership card to check out from the YMCA will still be required. Members will still be required to have their masks on in all areas & must continue to follow social distance guidelines.
Changes at the Y
- Wellness: The Y will be removing the check-in desk, and you will no longer need to scan your membership card to enter the Wellness Center. We have increased the amount of fitness equipment in the Wellness Center while rotating fitness machines and allowing social distancing.
- Pool: We will no longer require reservations to use the Large pool. There will still be a limit of 1 person per lane. Pool usage will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Members will not be able to congregate on the pool deck while waiting for a lane.
- Hot Tub: Reservations for the Hot tub will not be required. There will be a wait time of 5 minutes in between member usage. Members will not be able to congregate on the pool deck while waiting for the hot tub.
- Locker Room: The Men's Locker Room stairs to the Wellness Center will reopen.
- Group Fitness: Group Fitness Classes will be increasing in size to allow more members to attend classes. Mask will continue to be required, and social distancing will still be in effect. Spin classes will continue to be in the Group Fitness room.
The Greater Waterbury YMCA highly encourages everyone to get vaccinated when you are eligible. Together we can help stop the spread of COVID!
