DIGE Presents: Black History Month

January 28, 2022

We at The Greater Waterbury YMCA are proud to recognize and celebrate Black History Month and the contributions and accomplishments of Black Americans throughout American History. This month, we pay tribute to honor the triumphs and adversity Black Americans have had to face throughout their lifetimes. Join us in celebrating Black History this month by participating in one of our many events this February!

February 9th

Express yourself through the art of Poetry, Song, and Dance! Get a chance to hear and see the people of our community perform in honor of Black History Month. In the end, vote for your favorite act and determine who wins the grand prizes!

This event is free and open to the public. However, donations are always welcome!

If you are interested in performing OR attending, please click the link below to register!

February 18th, 21st, and 25th

Join us in the Greater Waterbury YMCA Gymnasium for a night full of snacks, juice, and movie magic! We will be hosting three movie nights throughout February, and we would love to see you there! This event is free and open to the public, so feel free to bring a friend!

February 19th and 26th

In honor of Black History Month, we will be hosting a small business expo highlighting businesses owned and run by people of color within our community. This will take place on Saturday, February 19th, and Saturday, February 26th, from 10 am-2 pm. If this criterion applies to you and you are interested in having a booth, please reach out to Edna Walton with what date you would like to participate and a bit of info about your business. We would love to see you there!

This event is open to the public, and all are welcome. Please help us celebrate Black History Month by supporting black-owned small businesses within our community!
