LIVESTRONGAT THE YMCA
Two years since its inception, LiveSTRONG at the YMCA has truly
become one of the most impactful, powerful programs the Y has
ever run. In 2013, a total of 68 survivors graduated from the
program. The popularity of the program, as well as the diversity
of the survivors we serve, spurred the Y to add an evening session
that runs on the same days as the morning session – providing
more wellness to more fierce cancer survivors!
In 2013, something truly heartfelt and remarkable came to be. The Y
asked a group of runners if they would be willing to not only train for a
half marathon program, but to raise money for LiveSTRONG at the YMCA
while doing it. The response was amazing, and over 40 runners signed up
to raise $500 each for the program while training for the race.
OnOctober 12, 2013, “Team13.1”, theY’s firstHartford
Marathon team, ran13.1miles for cancer survivorsand raiseda
grand total of $24,000. The funds raisedwill continue toprovide
