Located in Watertown, about 10 miles from the Greater
Waterbury YMCA, is the Outdoor Center at YMCA Camp
Mataucha. For over 80 years, this beautiful piece of property
on Smith Pond has provided thousands of kids with
unforgettable outdoor experiences.
Through the generous support of the Woodward Fund, the
Greater Waterbury YMCA was able to acquire an additional
33 acres of property next to camp, increasing the outdoor
campus to a total of 80 acres. The additional property opened
a new world of possibilities for year-round programming,
recreation and enjoyment in a beautiful serene setting. This,
in addition to the recent barn, yurt and archery improvements,
have made YMCA Camp Mataucha a true outdoor center.
The Y offers group outings, birthday parties, expanded trail
systems, holiday events, outdoor Wellness Programs, vacation
camps, and winter activities. The Outdoor Center provides field
days to area schools as well as sending hundreds of children
to camp each summer through the United Way Campership
Fund and the YMCA Open Doors program.

The YMCA extends its reach to families in our outlying service
area of Watertown, Middlebury, Southbury, and Woodbury,
