Youth & Teen
The Greater Waterbury YMCA Youth & Teen program is based on the foundation of teaching children the importance of YMCA core values: honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. Each program provides learning, leadership and friendship opportunities for the youth and teens in our community. Youth & Teen Programs

Pee Wee Basketball
This 10-week instructional program for boys and girls aged 4-8 years old is designed to teach the basic rules and fundamentals of the game of basketball. Players will practice dribbling, passing, shooting, learn the rules of the game, and most of all....have FUN! Sessions are held at the YMCA on Saturday mornings. All participants receive t-shirts and medals.

Game Time Hoops
This league is designed for players aged 9-15 who have had some experience with the game of basketball and would benefit from a league that plays games as well as holds instructional practices. There is a player evaluation held by the coaches to determine teams. This league runs for 10 weeks and everyone makes a team. At the conclusion of the league, all participants receive a medal and the champions receive trophies.

Hoops and Homework
An opportunity for Game Time Hoops participants to practice and develop their basketball skills. They will also receive assistance with their homework and /or school projects. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Youth & Government
A program designed to educate 9-12 grade students on the basics of legislation and debating. The students meet twice a month and the program culminates with a weekend trip to the Connecticut State Capitol. Programs runs from Oct.- May.

Leadership Program
A program designed for high school students. Students receive assistance in achieving future goals and character building skills. Participants in this program write resumes, visit universities, do fundraising, volunteering and mentoring. Program runs from Oct.- May.

Fun Bus
We will be traveling to various parks around the city to provide youth with some YMCA fun. It is free of cost and we will offer snacks and a variety of activities to do.

Kings AAU Team
An elite basketball team which travels to various states and cities to play against some of the nation’s best players, in some of the top AAU tournaments in the country. Some past places we have traveled to are Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Las Vegas. Anyone is allowed to tryout for this team but only selected players will be chosen.

High School Basketball League
We offer a summer basketball league to all the existing basketball teams in the area. Invitation only.

Teen Night
An opportunity for teens under the age of 18 who are not YMCA members to come in and enjoy the YMCA. Teens are allowed to use the gymnasium and go swimming in our pool. The cost to come in on teen night is only $2 and it’s every Friday night from 6-8 p.m. Runs from Oct.-May.

Outdoor Program at Camp Mataucha
Indoor Parent and Me Soccer (3 years old with parent) A great introduction to this international phenomenon! Participants will have fun, meet new friends, and learn the basic skills for playing soccer.
Indoor Pee-Wee Soccer (Ages 4 & 5) This program will focus on helping your child develop appropriate soccer skills, learn sports as a life-long activity, stay in shape and most of all have a great time.
Indoor Sports Spectacular (Ages 4 & 5) This program will give your child the opportunity to learn and play a new sport each week. Some of the sports that we will focus on include basketball, soccer, floor hockey, baseball, and more. Perfect for those who can’t get enough sports or have never tried before!
Indoor Parent and Me Sports Spectacular (3 years old with parent) This class will introduce your child to the wonderful world of sports. Some of the sports featured in this program include soccer, tee ball, kickball, basketball and more. No experience required!
